Have an impact.

Join New Start Dog Rescue by volunteering your time, fostering dogs in need, or opening your home through adoption. Every role helps rehabilitate, socialize, and find permanent homes for dogs. Volunteers and fosters provide critical care and training; adopters give lifelong love. Get involved and make a lasting difference for dogs waiting for a second chance.

Volunteers

Our rescue is 100% volunteer and foster-based. We do not have a facility and all our dogs are in foster homes. We wouldn't be able to do what we do without them!

Thank you to all our past and present volunteers!

Volunteer

Volunteering at New Start Dog Rescue helps dogs find homes and strengthens our community. We rely on volunteers for daily care, socialization, training support, transport, and adoption-event staffing—tasks that boost dogs’ adoptability.

Why it matters

  • Immediate: Walking, grooming, and socializing reduce stress and improve behavior.

  • Lasting: Training and enrichment lower return rates and support successful adoptions.

  • Community: Helping animals builds neighborhood ties and compassion.

Ways to help

  • Dog care: Feeding, cleaning, walking, enrichment.

  • Behavioral support: Basic training, socialization, observations.

  • Outreach & events: Staffing adoption fairs and fundraising.

  • Transport & logistics: Transfer dogs to vets, fosters, or meet-and-greets.

What we provide

  • Orientation and role-specific training.

  • Ongoing mentorship.

  • Flexible scheduling (regular shifts or event help).

  • Welcoming community and recognition, including service-hour letters.

Who we need

  • Compassionate, reliable people 18+ (supervised youth programs available).

  • Volunteers able to commit to regular shifts or specific events.

  • Those who follow safety and animal-handling protocols.

Foster

Give a dog a temporary home, change a life forever.

Fostering with New Start Dog Rescue means providing safe, loving care while a dog waits for a forever family. You’ll help reduce shelter crowding, allow shy or recovering dogs time to heal, and accelerate adoptions by showing dogs at their best. We supply food, supplies, medical care, training guidance, and a dedicated support team—fosters provide the love and a stable environment.

Benefits for you:

  • Flexible commitments: short-term or long-term placements to fit your schedule.

  • Rewarding experience: watch a dog’s confidence grow and be part of their success story.

  • Community and support: training tips, vet coordination, and a network of fellow fosters.

Join New Start Dog Rescue as a foster and be the bridge between uncertainty and a happy, permanent home. Sign up today and make an immediate, measurable impact.
